Mermet Springs never disappoints, it is easily within our local driving area for weekend trips, and there are just so many great attractions for us to visit underwater. The 8.5 acre spring-fed quarry located deep in Southern Illinois is starting to warm up nicely and visibility can range anywhere from 15 – 60 feet. No worries on less than stellar visibility days because there are guidelines all through the underwater funland to keep us on track.

Mermet Springs is located on US 45 between Vienna and Metropolis, IL. As you enter the site, you’ll be amazed at the picturesque wooded backdrop and sheer cliff rising across from the cool-blue water. From the main diving dock, you’ll see schools of large bluegill, giant albino channel catfish and, further down, spoonbills! These prehistoric throw-backs have huge mouths and are known to grow larger than five-foot in length. Seeing these “paddle fish” up close will raise your pulse a bit, but don’t worry…they are filter feeders and eat microscopic critters that feed on the algae. All these fish are very friendly, almost tame. Mermet Springs prides itself on being well-organized, professional and most welcoming to our Easy Divers groups.

Our trip includes:

• Two days gear rental for divers in training (not including wetsuit)
• Two days diving fees and air fills at Mermet Springs
• Light lunch, daily water & snacks
• Training dives and dives for fun & experience with Direct and Indirect supervision

Trip Fees:

• Divers in training with rental: $375 includes: 2 days gear rental (not including wetsuit), 2 days diving fees, air fills, water, snacks, light lunch, four dives under PADI Instructor supervision, and PADI Certification card.
• Divers in training with their own gear: $325 includes: 2 days gear rental (not including wetsuit), 2 days diving fees, air fills, water, snacks, light lunch, four dives under PADI Instructor supervision, and PADI Certification card.
• Certified divers with rental: $300 includes: 2 days gear rental (not including wetsuit), 2 days diving fees, air fills, water, snacks, light lunch, four dives indirect PADI Instructor and Divemaster supervision, and dive site briefing.
• Certified divers with their own gear: $250 includes: 2 days diving fees, air fills, water, snacks, light lunch, indirect PADI Instructor and Divemaster supervision, and dive site briefing.

8 divers are required for the trip to run at posted price.

Please note: Your trip deposit and payment are a promise to travel. Reservations are confirmed and staff engaged, so please understand that trip money is non-refundable. Also, please make sure that you place your trip deposit as soon as you know you are going. We must have 8 confirmed travelers for the trip to run as scheduled. Divers in training are limited to 6 so that we can insure maximum attention and supervision.

TRIP DEADLINE CLARIFICATION

All of our trips have a listed deadline. Each trip budget is based on a minimum number participants for a trip to run as scheduled. The deadline helps us to confirm that there is enough interest to keep the trip on the books. As long as we meet the minimum, the trip will run. We encourage you to call for availability if you would like to sign up after the deadline has passed. Often times we can add you on up until just a few days prior to departure on the local trips. Remember that diving and smoking/vaping/smokeless tobacco products do not mix. We are a no tobacco product group. Under no circumstances will there be tobacco, vaping, or smokeless tobacco products used at the dive site or group accommodation areas.
